‘The Good Shepherd’

Oil on Cavnas 22″ x 39″

14“I am the good shepherd; I know my sheep and my sheep know me—15and I lay down my life for the sheep. 16I have other sheep that are not of this sheep pen. I must bring them also. And there shall be one flock and one shepherd. 29My Father who has given them to Me is greater than all. No one can snatch them out of My Father’s hand.” John 10: 14-15, 29

From a young age, we may identify as the “black sheep.” Self-deficiencies and life’s unfairness form the idea that we are defective. Am I even loved? Do I have a purpose? Yet, he says, “You are mine and I am yours.” He lovingly accepts us just as we are because we are intricately and wonderfully made by Him. Even as actions may cause us to feel unworthy through the course of time, He is closer still.
