This is Trina. On the same day I met Barbara, God had another lady in mind. While serving meals on that Saturday afternoon, we came across Trina and her sister Tera at Virginia park in Santa Monica. As my friends and I were walking through the park, inviting the community for food, we saw them sitting at a bench alone preparing for a picnic. As we began to approach their bench, Trina began to walk around the area, but was limping. We approached her and asked if we can pray for her leg. Delighted that someone would even notice her need, she expressed that she too is a fellow believer. I soon learned that Trina and her sister are in fact homeless and were waiting on someone who had promised them a BBQ that day to show up. Realizing that person wasn’t going to show, we moved our BBQ over to them and were not only able to bless them, but they were and have been a tremendous encouragement and inspiration to us. Trina holds a Masters degree in screen writing and Tera holds two Masters degrees. Trina and Tera are amazing women of faith whose circumstance we could never have guessed because of their high spirits, gratefulness, and hope in God. They apply for jobs daily and are believing God for positions within their passions. They are a true inspiration to continue to dream big and trust God in any and every circumstance. Their life is an example of a belief in a God who guides. “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will direct your paths,” Proverbs 3:5-6. Soon thereafter, I showed up at their Sunday morning church service for homeless in the park to show her the painting. She was thrilled as she was surrounded by her church family who was thoroughly amazed at how wonderfully depicted she was on the canvas. She joyfully autographed the canvas. The proceeds from the purchase of the art work will go to supporting Trina’s necessities while she relentlessly pursues a career in screen writing.
